Trump Trashes “Messy System’s” Court Ruling; Sanctuary City Officials “Have The Blood Of Dead Americans On Their Hands”

President Trump – clearly frustrated at the incessant blocking of his executive orders to 'Make American Great Again' – unleashed a tweetstorm this moring threatening to escalate to the Supreme Court and blasting the 'system'…

"First the Ninth Circuit rules against the ban & now it hits again on sanctuary cities-both ridiculous rulings. See you in the Supreme Court!

Out of our very big country, with many choices, does everyone notice that both the 'ban' case and now the 'sanctuary' case is brought in… the Ninth Circuit,

which has a terrible record of being overturned (close to 80%). They used to call this 'judge shopping!' Messy system."

While we get the President's point, we note that it was in fact a U.S. district court judge in San Francisco who ruled against Trump's Sanctuary City executive order.

Additionally, as The Hill reports, The White House late Tuesday night blasted a ruling by a San Francisco judge who blocked enforcement of the president's order barring federal funds from so-called sanctuary cities.

"Today, the rule of law suffered another blow, as an unelected judge unilaterally rewrote immigration policy for our Nation," the statement from the office of the press secretary said.

"One again, a single district judge — this time in San Francisco — has ignored Federal immigration law to set a new immigration policy for the entire country…

San Francisco, and cities like it, are putting the well-being of criminal aliens before the safety of our citizens, and those city officials who authored these policies have the blood of dead Americans on their hands."

The White House called the San Francisco judge's ruling a "gift to the criminal gang and cartel element in our country."

"This case is yet one more example of the egregious overreach by a single, unelected district judge," the statement said.

The White House said it will "pursue all legal remedies" and called it a fight between "sovereignty and open borders."

"We are confident we will ultimately prevail in the Supreme Court, just as we will prevail in our lawful efforts to impose immigration restrictions necessary to keep terrorists out of the United States," the statement said.

As The Hill notes, according to Snopes, less than one-tenth of one percent of the circuit court's decisions are reviewed by the Supreme Court.

"Among less than one tenth of one percent of circuit court decisions reviewed by the Supreme Court, about 80 percent of the Ninth Circuit Court's decisions were overturned," according to Snopes.

After the ruling on Tuesday, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said a federal court went "bananas" in blocking the president's order to withhold funding from sanctuary cities. Priebus also expressed confidence the administration would prevail if the case reaches the Supreme Court.

"It's the Ninth Circuit going bananas," Priebus told a group of reporters Tuesday evening. "It's clear forum shopping that's going on in this country."
