Barbara Jean Phenicie, 71, of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away November 14, 2013.

Mrs. Phenicie was a long time teachers aid at the First Presbyterian Kindergarten and preschool, she was also a elder and a deacon at the church.

Mrs. Phenicie was preceded in death by a grandson Brian Phenicie, and also her parents Walter & Mildred Kolb.

Jerry C. Williams, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

He was born in Alto, Texas on January 1, 1940, to the late Clenon Farley & Ada Mae Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Beverly Foster Williams, daughter Suzanne & husband Alan Carter of Covington, Ga., brother Farley Wayne & wife Sharon Williams of Blairsville, Ga., sister Benita Owens of College Station, Texas, grandchildren Evan, Dixon, & Grayson Carter & many nieces, nephews & numerous other relatives.

Emily Louise Burgess, 92, of Fayetteville

Emily Louise Burgess, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away November 12, 2013.

She received her teaching degree from West GA College and her Masters of Education and Reading Specialist Degrees at the University of Georgia. She taught elementary school throughout North Georgia and retired from The Fayette County School System. As the supportive wife of a Methodist minister, she was involved in many churches throughout North Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Gail Burgess King and three sisters.

Thankful for turkeys who prompt us to give thanks

It was Thanksgiving week, and a co-worker gave John a parrot as a Thanksgiving gift. Just what he always wanted. This parrot evidently was previously owned. He had a terrible attitude, was horribly obnoxious, and used a very crude vocabulary. Everything he said was laced with profanity.

John was having company over for Thanksgiving, so he started working on shaping up his parrot’s attitude and cleaning up his speech. He spoke only polite words, played soft music, and tried to show his parrot how to be nice and gentle.

Edgefield hosts seminar tonight on getting affairs in order

Edgefield Baptist Church in Fayetteville invites all to attend the first in a series of personal educational seminars.

The “Getting Your Affairs In Order” planning workshop will be held tonight, Nov. 20, from 7- 9 p.m.

On hand will be an attorney, full service insurance agent, licensed funeral service counselor, and licensed interment specialist to talk concerning “your affairs.”

The annual church wide Thanksgiving “Blessed to be a Blessing” meal is set for tonight, Nov. 20, at the Robinson Road Campus of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Tickets may be purchased at the church office.

In addition to enjoying a delicious traditional Thanksgiving meal with fabulous fellowship, those attending can purchase a meal as a gift for a shut-in member of the church, provide a dinner for Big Bethel Trinity House, and purchase a Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving and Christmas Day meal for Fayette Senior Services.
