The Fred Amphitheater and Lisa Kelly Voice Academy are joining forces to bring a special concert to Peachtree City May 10, 2014 . The concert will feature former Celtic Woman, Lisa Kelly, along with special guests, as they bring a bit of Ireland to Peachtree City’s 2,500 seat outdoor Amphitheater.

The room was small–about 10 x 10–with one long, black curtained window drawn to keep any light from filtering out to the bomb plagued streets. In front of the window sat a long table, used by various officers—two Americans, a Canadian, a Brit, an Australian. A door was on one wall; a fireplace on another, usually lit during those late winter English months.

Any other time, we’d watch news accounts of horrific weather like that in the Pacific Northwest last week, and shake our heads. “Why would people want to live in that kind of climate?” we’d ask each other, reveling in balmy Georgia.
Any other time, we’d see pictures of cars stalled along a far-off Interstate and wonder why these fools had got themselves into a situation where they had to abandon their most expensive possession to struggle on foot to shelter.

Kathryn Foreman of Landmark Christian School has qualified for compete in the Foot Locker Cross-Country Championships national meet Saturday in San Diego.
She qualified at the South Region championships Nov. 30 in Charlotte with an eighth-place finish. The top 10 from each of four regions qualify for the national race and receive all-expenses-paid trips to San Diego to compete.
Foreman, a sophomore, recently won her second straight Georgia High School Association state championship in cross-country.

Two Florida men arrested recently in Alabama on entering auto charges are believed to be connected to other vehicle break-ins in Peachtree City.
Thirty-seven-year-old Oscar Moses Badger, of Dania Beach, Fla., and Bobby Hanna, 24, of Plantation, Fla., were arrested recently in Pelham, Alabama on entering auto charges, according to media reports.

An updated development agreement approved Monday by the Senoia City Council will have the city reimbursed for the cost of installing a multi-use path along Rockaway Road from Heritage Pointe subdivision to the Eddie Couch bridge.
Developer Scarbrough and Rolader Development LLC will pay $1,500 for each residential lot sold in Phase 2 until the project cost of more than $400,000 is met.

An 18-year-old Senoia man was arrested Dec. 3 on charges of child molestation, kidnapping and false imprisonment after he forced a juvenile into his home. Police were alerted by the man’s father when he arrived home from work and intervened.
Terry Lee Sherman was charged with kidnapping, child molestation and false imprisonment, according to Senoia Det. Jason Ercole.
Ercole said Senoia officers responded to Sherman’s residence on Dec. 3 at approximately 3:09 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible sexual assault involving a juvenile.

Representatives of the Fayette County Visioning Initiative made a presentation to the Peachtree City Council Thursday night to explain how they are working to create a countywide community development plan.
Co-chair Trey Ragsdale noted that such a procedure isn’t a new concept for Fayette, which underwent a similar review back in 1987 to create “Fayette ‘93.” One of the biggest results of that plan was to plant the seeds for what would later become Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

The simple act of wearing a seatbelt saved a Peachtree City man’s life earlier this year when he fell unconscious while driving on Peachtree Parkway.
Thana M. Alusi was presented the “Saved By the Belt” award from the police department and city council at Thursday’s council meeting.
Earlier this year and just after 4 p.m., Alusi was driving south on the parkway near North Cove when he suffered a medical problem, causing his car to strike a large tree on the opposite side of the road.
