The new Senoia Development Authority will hold its first meeting Monday. Expected to serve as an organizational meeting, it will include agenda items such as the election of officers and a discussion of the by-laws governing the authority.
Authority members include Doug Kohlbenschlag, Bill Wood, Harry Ramos, Tammie Adams, Jim Schuyler, Matthew Bennett and former Mayor Robert Belisle.
The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Stone Lodge at Merrimac Lakes, located at 140 Pylant Street. The meeting is open to the public.

Newnan Theatre Company is pleased to bring “Love Letters,” by A.R. Gurney, to their Mainstage venue.
A finalist for the 1989 Pulitzer Prize, the stage show is known for being one of the few to use the epistolary style, where, rather than speak in a dialogue form, the actors speak to one another through their letters, notes and cards written over a period of time.
The play tells the story of the relationship between two people, troubled rich girl Melissa Gardner and the politically ambitions Andrew Makepeace Ladd, III.

The Coweta County School System has named the 2014 teachers of the year for each of its 31 public schools. Chosen by their peers, the teachers will be honored at a ceremony on May 1. The May 1 meeting will also include the announcement of the school system’s 2014 Teacher of the Year.

More details have emerged in the Feb. 13 murder of Coweta County resident Richard L. Earhart at his home near Thomas Crossroads. The man charged with his murder, Earhart’s 31-year-old son, was found with a bloodied machete and double-edged ax in the home.
Justin Lee Earhart was charged with the Feb. 13 murder of his 58-year-old father at his east Coweta County residence.
Coweta County Sheriff Mike Yeager on Feb. 14 said the 911 call center received a call after 5:30 a.m. from an individual asking for help, adding that his son had attacked and stabbed him.

Herobox is seeking 10 injured veterans from recent conflicts who would like to participate in a NASCAR event called Project Green Flag.
The event includes an all-expenses paid day at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday March 7, with a ride along in a NASCAR car, meals, a meet and greet with racers and Herobox/NASCAR gear.
Project Green Flag is designed to provide a safe and therapeutic experience for injured veterans. The idea is to spark injured veterans who are eager to start their new journey, according to Herobox founder Ryan Housley.

DOT wants time to install new signal management system
A proposal to add a new traffic light on Ga. Highway 54 West for a new shopping center ran into a logjam of its own Thursday night, as the Peachtree City Council voted unanimously to table the request indefinitely.
The Georgia Department of Transportation asked for the delay so it would have time to install a new traffic signal management system on the highway, according to City Manager Jim Pennington.
The new system will use information from highway sensors to gauge

Three Peachtree City men were killed in a plane crash Saturday shortly after 2 p.m. in LaGrange, police said.
The victims were identified as Vincent Michael Rossetti, 60; Willy Lutz, 69; and Jeffery Van Curtis, 53, according to the LaGrange Police Department.
The plane went down at the LaGrange-Calloway Airport at 2:07 p.m., police said. Few details about the crash are available as of Sunday afternoon but the incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Three local boys’ teams prevailed in their first-round state basketball tournament games Saturday.
In AAAAA, the McIntosh Chiefs won at home 69-53 over Lakeside-Evans 53 to move into the round of 16. Their next game is on the road at Northside-Columbus, who beat Richmond Hill 75-63.
The Whitewater Wildcats saw their season come to an end in Warner Robins, where they fell 60-47.
In AAAA, the Sandy Creek Patriots downed Dalton 67-40 to earn a second-round game on the road against Johnson-Gainesville, who won 83-71 over Stone Mountain.
