Perhaps entirely to be expected, Chinese state-run media is trolling Washington days after the “apparent suicide” of billionaire convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in his “high security” Manhattan jail cell, calling the truly bizarre episode a “perfect example” of the supposed evils of capitalism.
The Epstein affair is a “perfect example demonstrating how capital permeates the US system and affects governing parties’ policies,” according to Communist party owned Global Times.
“There was no shortage of suspicions about Epstein’s case due to his inextricable link with political figures,” the GT editorial introduced by stating the obvious. “But his suicide has triggered further online discussion inside the US. Several hashtags relevant to the case, including #EpsteinSuicide, #ClintonCrimeFamily, #TrumpBodyCount and even #EpsteinMurder have been trending on Twitter and have driven people to reflect on the political system of the United States of America.”
This a day after President Trump himself joined in on the speculation over the “unfathomable” death of the most important powerful convict in the world during the most highly watched case in the world at a jail designed to safeguard high profile inmates from precisely such a scenario. Trump had retweeted a video from conservative comedian Terrence Williams pointing the finger at former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:
Died of SUICIDE on 24/7 SUICIDE WATCH ? Yeah right! How does that happen#JefferyEpstein had information on Bill Clinton & now he’s dead
I see #TrumpBodyCount trending but we know who did this!

A number of mainstream media pundits had seized on the president’s retweet to voice concern over the perception of world leaders and what foreign enemies might do with this.
We might note that this should be the least of the US mainstream’s worries when it comes to confirmation that a cabal of rich politically-connected world leaders ran around with a confirmed sex trafficker and pedophile, managing to cover up this network for years, and perhaps now indefinitely with Epstein’s death.
Cue Chinese-state media trolling. Here’s more from the Global Times article:
The US has developed dramatically thanks to such a system controlled by capital groups. But things are seemingly getting out of control. The widening gap between the rich and the poor is dividing the country and sharpening social contradictions.
Epstein was a well-connected financier who managed the assets of clients from the US upper class, moving among elites including incumbent US President Donald Trump and former US president Bill Clinton. But having been embroiled in sex scandals for years, he was arrested on July 6 for alleged sex trafficking of underage girls and faced a 45-year maximum sentence if convicted.
It continues: “Epstein’s case, involving massive capital and many celebrities, is a perfect example demonstrating how capital permeates the US system and affects governing parties’ policies.”
The article goes further to imply China’s “Communist paradise” is America’s answer if it ever hopes to overcome “people’s dissatisfaction” at the US system’s “defect”:
It has thus reminded US people of their system’s defect, ignited people’s dissatisfaction with the huge wealth gap long existing in the US and increased their concerns over the capital’s impact on the system.
The state media editorial goes on to conclude America is supposedly “trapped” in a “vicious spiral”: “Mysteries hidden in Epstein’s case might have gone with his death, but people’s anger and discontent should be enough to make Washington reflect.”
Epstein’s mysterious hard to believe “suicide” has clearly “ignited” something, but certainly not a yearning for individuals to cede yet more power to an elite clique of insiders and oligarchs with carte blanche powers who site on an insider boys club “committee” — as is precisely the case in Beijing.
