A conceptual site plan for the new Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel was approved Oct. 8 by the Peachtree City Planning Commission.
The three-story hotel will be behind the Wisdom Pointe retail center that fronts directly on Ga. Highway 74. At 42,000 sq. ft. the building will have 82 guest rooms and suites.
Because of a required 75-foot buffer between the hotel and the Woodsmill Apartments, there is no room to locate a second hotel on the 2.8-acre site as originally planned by the developer.

Setting the stage for a huge showdown next week, the Sandy Creek Patriots struck early and often against LaGrange, cruising to a 42-7 win over the Grangers on Senior Night in Tyrone.
Ranked first in the state in AAAA, the Patriots (7-0-1, 5-0) travel to Carrollton next Friday to face the second-ranked Trojans, who are coming off a 63-21 dismantling of Alexander.
Sandy Creek amassed 322 yards of offense in the first half on the way to a 35-0 lead at intermission. The entire second half was played using a running clock.

The Fayetteville Tax Allocation District (TAD) redevelopment plan designed to stimulate economic development in some of the city’s older commercial areas was back on the Oct. 17 agenda after being tabled earlier this month. But the resolution to move ahead with the plan had not been advertised correctly so the resolution was put on hold for the second time.

In an effort to promote passage of the Core Infrastructure Special Local Option Sales Tax in advance of early voting, the Fayette County Commission has released a list of questions and answers about the proposed tax. The questions and answers have been posted on the county’s website at www.fayettecountyga.gov.
The two-year tax, which would fund $16.8 million in stormwater projects in the unincorporated county, would also provide $14 million in road and cart path maintenance for Peachtree City and $6.7 million for a variety of projects in Fayetteville.
