Ed Krayewski on Four Issues Republicans Could Embrace in 2014 To Stay Relevant

next gen

2014 is another election year, with both Democrats and
Republicans hoping to exploit the others’ policy weaknesses to make
gains in the Congressional midterms. Democrats are being pilloried
for the disaster that’s been the healthcare website roll out so
far, as well as for President Obama’s numerous second-term missteps
and scandals. Republicans, in the meantime, are pilloried for
appearing to be obstructionists who are “out of touch” with the
American populace.

But image isn’t the Republicans’ only problem, or the biggest
one. The Republican party is already embroiled in what much of the
left relishes as a “civil war”; at stake is the ideological
direction the party will take. The division is largely drawn as
establishment (read: big government) conservatives vs. grassroots,
libertarian or movement conservatives. Ed Krayewski
recommends four issues Republicans could embrace to remain
relevant in 2014.

A grumpy elf made a special appearance at the Bennett’s Mill Middle School band concert last week. Principal Jason Byars, playing out of character with a high-pitched voice, got some laughs as the band delighted the crowd with a performance of “The Grumpy Elf” among other holiday favorites. Bill Gross: The Grinch Who Doesn't Like A 25% Gain In 2013

Since Carl Icahn is offline (one can’t tweet the market or AAPL higher when it’s closed), here is Bill Gross with some twitter Christmas non-cheer.

Of course, the 25% return in 2013 was for Bernanke’s favorite asset class: stocks. Bonds… not so much.

Everything That Happened In 2013 In One Cartoon

While millisecond by millisecond we spend our lives focused on the machinations of the “markets”, a lot of ‘other stuff’ happened in 2013. The following incredible image from Beutler Ink’s Mario Zucca packs in an entire year’s worth of 2013’s major events.

And Mario has been kind enough to provide a ‘cheat sheet’
