A week after North Korea reportedly lashed out at the US for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s “extremely troubling” insistence that it abandon its nuclear program and its weapons before economic sanctions are lifted – raising suspicions that China had asked Kim to put the breaks on the detente as trade tensions escalated – Kim Jong Un has sent Trump a flattering letter apparently just to make it clear that there are no hard feelings.
Trump tweeted out a copy of the letter Thursday shortly after landing in London, calling it “a very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea. Great progress being made!” In the letter, Kim said that the “strong will” of himself and Trump will lead to a “new future” between the DPRK and the US.

At the same time, the Trump administration has reportedly asked the UN to reprimand China and Russia for selling refined petroleum products to the North in violation of UN sanctions on Pyongyang. If that’s not a gesture of friendship, we’re not sure what is.
