Jury Reaches Verdict In Derek Chauvin Trial; To Be Read Imminently
The jury has reached a verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in the May 2020 death of George Floyd.
It took the jury roughly 10 hours of deliberation to reach their verdict, which is expected to be read in Hennepin County court between 3:30 and 4 p.m local time (between 4:30 and 5pm ET)
Chauvin faces three charges:
- Second-degree unintentional murder means causing death without intent by committing a felony.
- Second-degree manslaughter is causing death by unreasonable risk.
- Third-degree murder means causing death by an “eminently dangerous” act, showing a “depraved mind.”
