“Fake News”: Pence Team Denies He Was On Board For 25th Amendment Trump Removal

Vice President Mike Pence has denied that he ever considered supporting the use of the 25th amendment to remove President Trump from office, reports the Washington Examiner.

The claim is contained in an upcoming book by an anonymous alleged Trump administration official, The Warning.

“FAKE NEWS” tweeted Pence Press Secretary Katie Waldman.

In September 2018, the New York Times published an anonymous opinion piece by a senior member of Trump administration who described him or herself as belonging to an internal movement quietly resisting the president. “Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president,” the mystery author wrote. “But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until β€” one way or another β€” it’s over.” –Washington Examiner

Last September, the New York Times reported that former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein allegedly tried to organize members of Trump’s cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment to oust Trump from office.

In an attempt to persuade the clearly reluctant members of Trump’s cabinet, Rosenstein suggested that he or other officials should secretly tape Trump “to expose the chaos” he said was engulfing the West Wing. According to NYT, the sources were either briefed on Rosenstein’s plans, or learned about it from the files of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
