If it isn’t obvious, I’ve recently been cleaning out my phone and comparing progress pics in the process. This photos show why it’s so important to take routine progress pics. It’s pretty widely known that women in particular carry more fat in their lower body, so they have a hell of a time leaning the legs down, and I’m no different. Pictured is me at my fattest (after a year of being out of the game due to injury) until now, so about two years of building muscle and slowly decreasing bodyfat. Nothing fancy; just consistency in nutrition and training to support the goal. And I think I actually weigh about the same in both pics. I’m nowhere near I want to be, but these pics let me know I’m on the right track.

Although I've always been an active individual, a few years ago I was sidelined and unable to move my body due to a pretty serious back injury from a car wreck. Talk about a depressing time in my life. Also, a good time to self-loathe, feel sorry for myself, and get fat for the first time in my life. I lost all motivation and nearly felt like I had lost my identity. Nearly a year later, I got the okay to get back into it and it's been a slow process gaining strength without risking further injury, but I've been consistent and have been able to increase my deadlift to #245 now. I never thought I'd be able to achieve that kind of weight again with my back screwed, but it's a testament to what a hard work, patience, and determination can do. The girl in the right photo is who I really am on the inside; the broad in left is someone I will never see again. I murdered her and her piss poor attitude two years ago when I committed myself to changing my mindset and put in the work to make it happen. Excited to see what my body is capable of achieving in the next two years. Bring on the gainz. #DontQuit #FailureIsNotAnOption

This past weekend I went to Houston for the LSU season opener against Wisconsin on Friday and returned home yesterday. I ate off plan for one meal and consumed zero brewskis. As a huge football fan, I go to every LSU and Saints football game I can, along with participating in the tailgating beforehand. I love football season and I love working out. With the food and booze normally available at any tailgate in the Deep South, most would find it difficult to keep their diet in order, but having the best of both worlds can be done if you’re committed to the goals you’ve established for yourself. Twenty year-old me wouldn’t even recognize 34 year-old me. Today I made it back into the gym after a much needed two day break. Felt good to get my sprints in and my pink cheeks obviously indicate it was a solid session. Looking forward to some glute training this evening.
