Trump Attacks Biden Over Opposition To Bin Laden Raid, Soleimani Strike

With the presidential debate just eight days away, President Trump has started hammering Joe Biden over his track record on foreign policy – including Biden’s skepticism over the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, his vote against the Iraq war, and his opposition to the January strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, according to The Hill.

“No one has been more wrong, more often than Biden,” Trump tweeted late last week. “He voted FOR the Iraq War, he supported the defense sequester that gutted our military, he opposed the mission to take out Osama bin Laden, he opposed killing Soleimani, he oversaw the rise of ISIS, and he cheered the rise of China as a ‘positive development’ for America and the world.”

…China as a “positive development” for America and the world. If it were up to Joe, bin Laden and Soleimani would still be alive, ISIS would be still on the rampage, and China would now be the dominant power in the world – not America.

Trump advisers have declined to say whether the president will knock Biden over the fact that Hillary Clinton backed President Obama’s decision to strike Bin Laden, while Biden ‘was on the other side,’ according to statements made in 2015 by Hillary Clinton’s campaign an her allies.

In January, Biden said that the killing of Soleimani was equivalent to tossing “a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox.”

“Joe Biden has been on the wrong side of history for 47 years,” Trump said during a rally in Nevada last week, adding “He never called it right.“

Biden allies say the former VP will be ready for Trump – with one close ally insisting “I think it’s safe to say that we know it’s a line of attack he’s going to use and I’m sure the VP will be ready to answer it when it does come up,” adding “They’re trying to make this an issue because they have nothing else to go on.”

“I’m confident he’ll be preparing for that,” another longtime aide told The Hill.

Whether Biden will be able to articulate his rebuttal in real time, without a teleprompter, is another story altogether.

Former Republican National Committee spokesman Doug Heye said that bringing up Biden’s history on military operations could resonate with military voters who may be on the fence, but “otherwise, the election is dominated by COVID and the economy, and potential flare ups in cities.”
